About Unidy
What is a Unidy?
Your own place for your personal information: your details, your Unidy Card, your documents and the people you share them with. You decide what each person sees, and when you change something, the people you allowed stay current.
Is a Unidy an official ID?
No. A Unidy is not a government ID, and it doesn’t replace the identification the law asks for. Your passport stays your passport: Unidy helps you keep it, know when it expires and share only what someone needs.
Is it really free?
Yes. Your Unidy, your Unidy ID and Card, 1 GB of space, sharing and reminders cost nothing. No subscription and no credit card. Optional extras, like a personalized Unidy ID or more space, are there if you want them.
How does Unidy make money?
From optional extras, like a personalized Unidy ID, more space or having a document authenticated. Never by selling your personal information.
What is a Unidy ID?
Your unique address on Unidy, like unidy.me/f412k984m. It is yours for good and never changes once assigned. You can also choose a personalized one, like unidy.me/daniel.okafor.
Your information
Who can see my information?
Only you, until you share it. Every share says what is seen, by whom and until when, and you can end it whenever you want.
Can Unidy read my documents?
Your information is encrypted with a key of your own, kept apart from the data, and there is no master key. Unidy decrypts it only while you are signed in, to show it to you or to make the copy you asked for. A service that can show you your documents can read them, so we say it plainly: we use your information only for what you ask, and we never sell it.
Where is my information kept?
The services run on Google Cloud, and your encrypted documents are kept on Cloudflare R2, primarily in the United States. The keys are kept apart from the data they open.
Can I delete my Unidy?
Yes. Write to legal@unidy.com and we delete your Unidy and everything in it. We don’t ask why. Our backups roll over every day, so deleted information is gone from them within two days.
Sharing and connections
What happens when I share a document?
The person gets a copy made for them, never your original: only the parts you chose, their name watermarked across it, and an end date of 7 days at most. You see every opening.
Can I stop sharing something?
Yes. End any share or connection whenever you want; a share also ends on its own at its end date. A copy someone already downloaded can’t be taken back, which is why you share only what’s needed.
Do the people I connect with need a Unidy?
To stay current on their own, yes: a change reaches people on Unidy in their Unidy. Anyone else can get your update by email, or open your Unidy Card through its link or QR code.
Can companies connect to my Unidy?
That’s our vision: companies would ask your Unidy for what they need, with your permission, instead of keeping their own copy. It depends on companies choosing to take part.
What if I lose my phone?
Your Unidy isn’t on your phone alone. Emergency mode opens a narrow view of it from any phone or computer, with an emergency PIN you choose in advance, and full access comes back step by step.
