How Unidy works
Short, honest answers to the questions people ask before they trust Unidy with their contacts, documents and digital business card.
- Who holds the keys to your information in Unidy? Each person and each document has its own key, there is no master key, and the keys are kept apart from your information. Here is what that means.
- What does someone receive when you share a document?Unidy never sends your stored file. Each time you share, Unidy makes a fresh copy for one recipient, a person, a company or a government office, with their name, the date and why you shared it written across it.
- See who opened a document you sharedUnidy records every opening of a shared copy: when, roughly where and on what device. Wrong PINs and attempts after the end date too.
- Can you take back a document you shared?End a Unidy share any time and the link stops working at once. The copy made for that person is deleted. A copy they already downloaded, printed or photographed can’t be taken back.
- Share only the part of a document that’s neededWith Unidy you can share some pages of a document, or only some details, like your name and photo without your passport number.
- Know before your passport expiresAdd any document to Unidy. Unidy reads the expiry date on many documents, or you type it once, and reminds you months before, free.
- Change your phone number once in Unidy. Everyone you choose gets the new one.Change your phone number once in Unidy. People on Unidy see it change in their contacts. Everyone else gets an email.
- Will your phone’s contacts update when a friend changes their number? With the Unidy app and your permission, when someone you’re connected with changes their phone number, the contact in your phone updates too. Only the detail that changed is replaced.
- Who still has your old home address? When you change your home address in Unidy, it lists everyone you shared the old one with, so you can tell them all in one go.
- A digital business card that’s never out of dateA digital business card on Unidy is a web page that always shows your current details, never a printed copy. Choose what it shows, share it by QR code or link, and it never goes out of date.
- Your Unidy ID, the name in your link: standard or personalized?Your standard Unidy ID is free for good and never changes. A personalized one is an optional one-time extra. Same Unidy, same privacy.
- Your kids’ and pets’ papers, in their own placeGive each child and pet their own Unidy, managed by you and anyone else who looks after them, with their documents and reminders.
- How is Unidy free?Unidy is free for people, for good, and never sells your data. A few optional extras pay the bills, and paying never buys more privacy.
- What does a website get when you sign in with Unidy? With Continue with Unidy, a website gets only the details you tick. You can untick any, allow once, or disconnect later.
- One document in Unidy holds all its pagesIn Unidy one document holds as many files as it needs: five photos of a contract, the front and back of an ID card, a PDF and its annex.
- The right phone number, email address or home address, at the right timeGive each phone number, email address and home address its dates, days and hours. Set your digital business card to Automatic and it shows the ones that apply when it’s opened.
- Unidy is not another cloud driveA cloud drive keeps all your files and shares the original file as it is. Unidy keeps papers like your passport and lease, reminds you before they expire, and shares a copy with the person’s name on it, never your original.
